Easy Homemade Strawberry Lemonade

We are a pretty simple family when it comes to drink selections. Usually we are water or milk, but in the summer there is nothing better than a tall glass of ice cold tea or lemonade. Unless of course it is strawberry lemonade.

This recipe is one of my kids favorites. It is so easy to make with just a few simple ingredients that you will be front porch sitting with a tall cold pink glass of goodness in a snap!

Strawberry Lemonade Ingredients

Strawberry lemonade only requires 4 ingredients, and it is likely that you already have all of them on hand in the summer. Simple Syrup (Water and Sugar), Lemons, Strawberries

Simple Syrup

I like to keep a batch of simple syrup on hand in the summer time to make drink mixing that much easier. to make a simple syrup, you just mix together 1 part sugar to 1 part water in a pot and bring to a low simmer over medium heat until all the sugar is dissolved. You will know when it is done because your water will look like crystal clear water again!

Let it cool and then place in a mason jar with lid and store in the fridge for easy mixing. Easy Peasy!

Lemons

Obliviously if you are making real lemonade you need lemons. I always have random lemons in the bottom drawer of my fridge from recipes that I forgot to make.

When squeezing the lemons I like prefer a hand juicer, but you can certainly use any mechanism for juicing you wish. Hands are a great alternative if you don’t have gadgets.

I love using this old juicer that my husband’s grandmother gave us.

Pro Tip: Don't have lemons? No worries! You can always use store bought 100% lemon juice. It will get the job done without the extra work!

Strawberries

Up until now, I have given you all you need to make delicious homemade lemonade. We aren’t here for any ol’ lemonade, we are here for strawberry lemonade! It makes sense then that you will need some strawberries!

I prefer to have larger chunks of strawberries in my lemonade so I just place mine in a bowl and mash them with a wooden spoon or potato masher until they are the consistency I want. If you like a smoother drink feel free to give them a quick pulse in the food processor or blender.

How to Make Strawberry Lemonade

Making Strawberry Lemonade at home is so easy and it tastes a million times better than any powder mix you can get out there. Move over Kool- Aid!

Start by making your simple syrup.

Add one cup of sugar to one cup of water. Stir well and bring to a low simmer until the sugar is fully dissolved. While this happens, get to squeezing.

Squeeze the juice of about 6 lemons. You need 1 full cup of juice. You may be able to get by with less lemons or you may need a few more depending on how juicy your fruit is.

Pro Tip: If your lemons aren't easy to squeeze or the juice doesn't seem to want to come out. Pop uncut fruit into the microwave for 5 seconds and then roll on the countertop with the palm of your hand. Now try!

By now your sugar should be fully dissolved. Remove the simple syrup from the heat while you prepare your strawberries.

To prepare strawberries, I like to quarter them and place them in a bowl. I then use a wooden spoon to mash them. You can leave large chunks like me, or feel free to puree the strawberries in a food processor. Either way is delicious!

Now that you have all of your ingredients prepped, it is time to bring them all together.

In a gallon pitcher combine all 3 ingredients and stir well. Add cold water to pitcher to make 1 full gallon of strawberry lemonade. Serve over ice and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.

It is that simple!
